Dear colleagues,

the Presidential Council of OIML, to which I was invited, met on 2nd and 3rd March in Paris.

I took this opportunity to inform about my activities and your response. The Council agreed to grant the first OIML Award at the next CIML meeting in October under the condition that at least one candidate can be identified who fulfils the requirements.

I presented a proposal for a workshop in conjunction with the next CIML meeting but it turned out that there are too many time constraints. I will therefore look for another place at another date. Since OIML has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with UNIDO about cooperation we agreed that I will work out a proposal for a workshop and UNIDO will check the possibility of supporting the realization as a joint activity. Details about where and when will be decided later taking into account existing UNIDO programs.

I have in mind to develop a concept for the Promotion of Legal Metrology starting with Metrological Supervision (OIML Document No 9). After familiarization with the formal background exercises on spot are planned. Of course, details depend on the countries/regions in which the workshop will take place.

You are invited to send me your ideas and proposals for workshops that would be needed to strengthen your services.
